Falmouth Guest House - Comfortable Guesthouse Accommodation in Falmouth, Cornwall

We care about the Environment. We hope you enjoy your stay with us . The demands of tourism can contribute to the destruction of nature, the environment and the community.

It is important to us to minimise this impact to keep Cornwall beautiful.

Falmouth guest house members of Coast

We have taken steps to manage our business in an environmentally responsible way.

We recycle all paper, glass, cans and plastic. We compost all kitchen and garden waste for use in our garden.

To conserve energy we use low energy light bulbs, line dry all washing, fitted thermostats to all radiators and use a HE combi boiler for instant hot water. We use a diesel car. We are on a green energy tariff.

To conserve water we have water butts for gardening and to top up the pond. We have hippo bags in all the loos which are mostly dual flush.

To protect the environment, all our cleaning products are phosphate free and our waste bin liners are bio degradable.

We source all our food locally to support local producers, to reduce food miles and buy organic or free range where possible.

Our eggs are from ‘Amazin Organics’ in Penryn and our milk is supplied in reusable glass bottles to reduce plastic.

We encourage visitors to stay local and be car free. We offer a 5% discount to visitors arriving by public transport, foot or cycle. We offer a free transfer service from local rail or coach stations.

We actively encourage wildlife with bird tables and nest boxes and pond. We grow indigenous trees eg oak & horse chestnut.

We support local charities e.g. Shelter Box and Cornwall Wildlife Trust, local initiatives e.g. Transition Falmouth and local cultural events. We are members of ‘Coast’, ‘Cornwall Wildlife trust’ and ‘South west coast path’.

We welcome your suggestions.

How you can help

Whilst at Trelawney there are a number of ways you can help us maintain our Environmental Policy.

Towels: Only towels put in the shower are changed.

Use the ‘recycling’ bags in your room for paper, cans, bottles. They will be emptied daily.

Use local transport:

There is a bus stop on Melvill Road in front of The Falmouth Hotel to catch the Number 30 bus into town. We are just 5 minutes walk from both Falmouth Docks and Falmouth Town Railway stations which provide a regular service to Truro.

Our folder in the Dining room contains details of car-free days out and walks and cycle routes around Falmouth.

On leaving your bedroom please be sure to turn off all lights and ensure the TV is not on standby.
